Asuka
Asuka‘s ninja lineage traces back to her maternal grandfather, Hanzō. Despite her mother’s affiliation with the shinobi world, Asuka’s father pursued a different path initially, aspiring to become a prosperous lawyer. However, fate intervened when he became enamored with Asuka’s mother. Their union faced disapproval from Hanzō, leading to frequent conflicts. Undeterred by the opposition, Asuka’s father, deeply in love, sacrificed his ambition of becoming a lawyer to be with her.
In his perspective, dreams and wealth paled in comparison to the prospect of spending a lifetime with her. Touched by his unwavering commitment, Hanzō found himself unable to deny the heartfelt proposal. In a gesture of acceptance, he sanctioned their marriage and embarked on a new venture—opening a sushi shop alongside Asuka’s devoted father.
During Asuka’s formative years, she gained a reputation for engaging in frequent altercations, effortlessly besting both boys and girls alike. In response to her combative nature, Hanzō likened her to an independent sword without a corresponding shield, emphasizing her formidable strength but highlighting the absence of a complementary defense.
At a pivotal juncture, Asuka decided to enroll in the Hanzō National Academy, aspiring to tread in her grandfather’s footsteps and delve deeper into the intricacies of being both a sword and a shield. This marked a significant step in her journey to understand the profound philosophy passed down by Hanzō, aiming to balance strength with resilience in the pursuit of becoming a versatile and skilled shinobi.
In her inaugural year, Asuka encountered challenges in keeping pace with Katsuragi and Ikaruga, hampered by her initially clumsy nature. However, displaying remarkable resilience and determination, she overcame these hurdles and progressed to her second year, achieving commendable, average scores. Asuka’s journey at the Hanzō National Academy reflects not only her commitment to improvement but also her ability to persevere in the face of initial difficulties.
